If you know Kang-Yu then you know technique. At the same time, however, unless you know the sameness of Kang-technique and Yu-technique you cannot understand Kang-Yu. “Therefore turn being into advantage, and turn non-being into utility.”1) I mean, if you don't understand the nondistinctive unity you cannot integrate the distinctive parts to use. Therefore, “What has birth can be made only with dependence upon what has no birth.”2) It is verily to know Samjae is the framework for changes of Kang-Yu, and to know Samjae is the beginning of distinction over the One.
Now then, to discuss technique confined within the distinctive, every development is possible only from possession of the balanced Kang and Yu.3) “The old strategies said, ‘with the appropriate combination of the hard and the soft the country will prosper more, and with the appropriate combination of the strong and the weak it will flourish more again. However, with only the soft and weak the country will not fail to dwindle, and with only the hard and strong it will never fail to be destroyed.”4) Like this, the possession of balanced Kang and Yu enables even a country to develop, then how can it not enable an individual person and his technique to develop?
