"Am I sufficient now?"
"You are still deficient in arrangement of your life."
How should we live? Every doubt a man can have in right way begins from and returns to this question. And this question is the companion of life that never parts. A consistent system of a man's attitudes or concepts on this question is called his "value conception".
Taekwondo is related to life so closely that you can find a good value conception that a Taekwondo man comes to have, which is to be obtained in endless strains with the opponent and your transcendence over yourself in them. Although you can manage your life well in different way you may drive yourself severely up to the boundary of life in Taekwondo. For you want to live more positive life. You have to admit your opponent is better than you in another many respects on one hand, yet you should never cease to seek every blind point that might look trivial in his good woven poses and motions, and you can finally control over him protecting yourself. This is possible only with the positive mind to see pleasure even in painful difficulty admitting that we can find twinkling stars in darkness, and with the creative mind to discover the world open to infinite possibility in every small thing. This is the value conception of Taekwondo man.
This value conception gained from Taekwondo activity can capably cover all kinds of virtuous worth. There can be no falsity in the activity of plunging into the life itself, prior to thinking, with full acceptance and understanding of all, which includes the truth. It is the niceness if you find infinite possibility even on a slight hint turning this positive mind to a man, which is the foundation of ethics. This value conception of a Taekwondo man gets harmonized when actions and cognitions, which constitute the process of life, are mediated by no thinking, and it is the beauty what you feel then, which advances itself to the art. And knowing that all of these are oneness you can open the door to transcendence.
Some one may say all of these are sophisms, but if you get words you will rather lose reality. So is it especially in Taekwondo and life. The ultimate significance of word belongs not to the word itself. The finger that points the moon has no moon. The ultimate significance of word lies in leading us, who understand it, in right way. When a finger points the moon you should look at the moon. In the same manner, even though here talks in words about fight it is not to help you fight others but to lead you in your right way. Here, finger is to talking fight what the moon is to the right way. Whoever might talk TAEKWONDO, if it were in right way, what he truly means could be nothing more than this.
Just because TAEKWONDO leads you in your right way, although a soldier regards it as his happiness that he doesn't have to use his lethal weapon, you as a Taekwondo man always should do TAEKWONDO in your daily life. The lethal weapon is mere small part in Taekwondo. On the other hand, lethal weapon is everywhere in life and hidden also in word. Unless you discard it when you ought to it can rather hurt you. Why is it said that you have to abandon everything to get Taekwondo? For the life is the lethal tool.
Do you want to get the perfect Taekwondo? Then, seek everything of Taekwondo and life. And then, when you've got it, abandon all at once. The perfect TAEKWONDO will be obtained only then.
